When and where they were educated.  Apart from the facts, comment on the political, intellectual, and economic climate of their time and place.

What was their contribution? There is not only the narrow technical feature of their work, but also an intellectual component and a policy component.  The intellectual component should address how they changed the way in which social scientists think.  Have politics and policy changed as a result of the work done by your chosen author?
